Abstract
We report 2 patients with the palsy of the trapezius caused by spinal accessory nerve injury. Two patients complained of shoulder pain and inability to abduct their arms above horizontal plane. One patient had trapezial palsy after sustaining penetrating injury of neck by sharp object. He was managed by nerve reconstruction with sural nerve graft at post-injury 7 months. He fully recovered active shoulder abduction and did not feel pain anymore. The other patient had paresthesia along orofacial area and winginig scapula after thyroid operation. We managed her with exploration and neurolysis. Orofacial symptom and winging scapula had gone. She could elevate her arm above horizontal plane. The clinical characteristics of these patients were presented with review of previously published articles.
